Gulmarg Gondola is famous as the longest and highest cable car project in the world.  As you arrive at Gulmarg you will see people jumping over the snow while carrying long sticks around their feet.

On the other hand, Gulmarg Gandola is also known as a successful mountain-riding destination. Our ancestors have depicted Kashmir for a long, that is the reason whenever we think of Kashmir, mountains covered with lush vegetation or mountains covered with snow come to mind.

How to Do Gulmarg Gondola Ride

The only way to reach Gulmarg is by booking a car from Srinagar which will directly take you to Gulmarg. When you reach and wish for a ride in Gondola first head towards the main office and wait in long queues for the ticket.

The other option is there, you can book the tickets online but before some days. There are two stages of Gulmarg Gondola ride. One from Gulmarg to Kungdoori and second stage from Kunddoori to Apharwat. The total cost for return ticket will be around 1850 Rs.

A tourism board duly alerts you that there is a viewpoint just before you enter the town, at a sharp turn, where you can stop to take in the valley view on one side and a snow-clad sunshine peak on the other, but it is the first sight that stays in your memory cells the most. If you stay there for the whole day, you can find the golden sun merging with the silver snow and creating magic.

To be honest, if you don’t take a gondola ride, it means you haven’t visited this tourist attraction. If you’re wondering what a gondola is, it’s a cable car that saves your valuable energy and transports you up into the mountains to make you feel better.

It is the world’s highest cable car. So there’s no reason to miss out on this one-of-a-kind ride. It is divided into two tiers. While booking online or offline, you can choose which tier you want to travel to. This means it depends on your budget. These tiers take you from a mean sea level of 8700 feet to 14000 feet. Be prepared for thin air and intense breathing.

Apharwat Mountain from Gulmarg Gondola Ride

The initial level reaches halfway up Apharwat Mountain. There are numerous tourist activities available here. Playing in the snow is the most straightforward and, I would imagine, the most fun. It is widely available and in quantity. You can go on a sleigh ride, go joy skiing, or ride a pony. I’d suggest just strolling around and taking in the sights of children playing, trees poking through the snow, and Himalayan peaks all around.

Take the second ride to the cable car up to the mountain’s peak, Apharwat. The steep journey will make you forget everything, but the scenery on either side will help. The views radically alter as the height rises. You are looking at the mountain from the bottom at the start of the journey. It is highly advised that you view one side when going up and the other side when you return.

Once your side trip over a snow-covered peak is accomplished, If you stand on the edge and look around at the mountains, you’ll feel as if you’re on the rim of a snow-covered bowl. Army camps in the Highlands resemble pigeon holes. And no amount of imagination can prepare us for the challenges we encounter in these hostile situations.

Wazwan is a complex Kashmiri dinner served in a single dish from which everyone eats. Nowadays, the hospitality business is conscious of individual preferences; thus, they serve you a little dish like a wazwan but let you eat on your own plate. Wazwan is predominantly a meat eater.

To begin, there will be delicious walnut chutney that can be mixed with rice. Then there’ll be Nadru Yakhni, a delicacy prepared from lotus stems that’s famous in Kashmir and is both tasty and light. Following that will be a must-have paneer dish. Kashmiri wazwan has about 50 dishes. After taking the wazwan, request a cup of Kashmiri kahwah, which is available practically everywhere in Kashmir.

The official name of the temple is Shree Mohinishwara Shivalay. Perched on a little mound in the center of Gulmarg’s bowl. Maharana Mohan Dev’s daughter was Queen Mohini Bai Sisodia. And it was built exactly 100 years ago, in 1915, by the widow of King Hari Singh of Kashmir. Her father’s title of Maharana implies that she belongs to the Mewar clan. The Maharani Mandir is also known as the Rani Ji Mandir.

The front features a simple Shivalinga with a crimson ceiling and an Om and a Swastik mark. The vista from the Parikrama temple is stunning. Behind the temple, you can see a strip of snow-covered peaks, and as you move, you can see the bowl of this area, with its famous golf course in the center and modest green buildings, the bulk of which are hotels.

St Mary’s Church
Gulmarg Gondola Ride

Simply walk around the golf course from the Maharani temple to reach the charming entrance of St Mary’s Church. It’s a 150-year-old church, perhaps from colonial times when the British would have sought relief from the heat of the Indian plains.

The church is as primary as the Rani temple but slightly larger. When you glance around the chapel, you will notice many little lakes that are part of the golf course.

While traveling to St. Mary’s Church, you will pass by the historic Hotel Highlands Park, where the famous hymn was written. ‘Hum Tum Ik Kamre mein band ho’ in the film Bobby was shot.

Hopefully, I will suggest that you select a better tour package from a travel company and enjoy the beauty of Kashmir.
